Cedarville University Yellow Jackets Men's Basketball Camps

The Cedarville Men’s Basketball team strives to play the game in a way that glorifies God. We have four core values that we try to represent with the way that we play the game of basketball; unity, perseverance, toughness, selflessness. As Christians we should all be unified in the way that we love and care for one another, and through wins and losses we do so together. God did not promise us an easy life, but one of trials, and we try to persevere through those when we meet them (James 1:2-4). Jesus was tough. He endured many sufferings because of the truth that he was not afraid to proclaim. We believe that we should imitate this toughness through the way that we play the game of basketball. Whether we miss a shot or are just simply tired we can continue to play as hard as we can because Jesus set that example for us. And, of course we want to play selflessly. We know that compared to God we are very small and incapable individuals. We do not want to boast about ourselves or play like we are the only person that matters on the court. Basketball is a game that God has given to us. We teach our players that God has given them strengths and it is our job to use those to worship him. So, ultimately playing the game of basketball should be an act of worship, and we want anyone who watches us play to recognize that in our game.
